If something bothers you when you look in the mirror then it will bother you when you view your portraits. Luckily, the camera is easily fooled and many problems can often be hidden or softened. The right pose, lighting, and camera angle as well as the correct clothing can make all the difference in the world if you let us know what it is that’s bothering you. Big noses, ears that stick out, and double chins can be softened or hidden from camera view. If you have long hair, wear it down. Almost every person’s face will photograph better with their hair down. Hair pulled back in a photograph can’t be seen and looks like short hair. And finally, if you really want to look your best in your portraits here are a few tips that can help:
- Wear mid-tone to dark solid colors (black works great)
- Wear long sleeves
- Wear loose fitting clothes
- Wear high heels (the higher the better)
- Wear panty hose
- And of course, wear your hair down
